A popular form in the Baroque was the gigue (French for jig). A gigue was a lively piece, usually in 6/8 or 9/8 time. I wondered what would happen if you did a gigue in 7/8 time, and this is the result. It has a distinctively Greek flavor, which is why I gave it the title "Greek Gigue." (I could have called it a Grigue, but that would be too Norwegian.)
I created the music and converted it to WAV with MuseScore, then added a little reverb with Audacity. The virtual instruments are a flute, an oboe, a bassoon, and a cello. The wind instruments have all the fun while the cello plays the most boring bass line possible — until it gets the last word.
The second EP from Northern Irish singer-songwriter Bea Stewart runs from gentle folk to pillowy pop ballads, all perfectly executed. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 15, 2024
